Vocational measures in Neumünster Prison

"PAuL - Perspektive Arbeit und Leben" is aimed at inmates at Neumünster Prison. The aim is to promote the qualification of incarcerated men. Individual prospects are developed through a thorough initial analysis with appropriate tests at the start of the sentence. The following are offered Work therapy, work training, training/qualification in the areas of painting/varnishing, construction/bricklaying, wood/drywall construction and building cleaning. The aim of the program is to integrate the participants into the primary labor market or, alternatively, to participate in measures as a follow-up perspective after release. This not only promotes resocialization, but also active integration into the labour market and thus facilitates successful reintegration into society after the prison term.

Another component is the "Zukunftsschmiede", which promotes the successful reintegration of participants even before they leave prison. Comprehensive preparation for release includes job application training, support with bureaucratic issues such as applying for a citizen's allowance or setting up a bank account, networking with advice centers and much more.
