After a round of introductions and words of welcome from the head of the Diakonie Altholstein department, the event began with the presentation "TABU Mobil in retrospect". This outlined the objectives, milestones achieved and challenges of the last three years. Through more than 20 events per year, the regular round tables and annual specialist days, the topic of FGM/C has been brought closer to society and politics, professionals have been sensitized, cooperation has been strengthened and the care network has been tightened. The prevention of FGM/C was discussed and how essential it is to have sensitized experts, strong cooperation with the communities as well as stable funding and sustainable structures.
The topic is not yet integrated into curricula across the board, but is dependent on individuals taking on the topic and prioritizing and planning for it in their areas. A map of Schleswig-Holstein was used to visualize where TABU Mobil has regularly given workshops and where the topic is already being planned by the committed network.
A brief insight into our social media work showed how different target groups and topics can be addressed in this format. There was also a brief report on the logo. Briefly summarized: The idea is to create and disseminate a symbol that makes it discreetly and quickly recognizable that people who are sensitized to FGM/C work in certain institutions (such as doctors' surgeries, advice centres, etc.). In this way, women and girls can independently contact suitable institutions in a network that covers as much of the country as possible. The design for the symbol has now been finalized and we are currently working on additional information material.
Breakout sessions and mentimeters also provided the opportunity for exchange and networking in digital format. Thank you very much for the many suggestions and appreciative feedback!
The afternoon was rounded off with a short presentation on "TABU Mobil in Outlook". This dealt with the changed funding basis of TABU Mobil and the planned priorities in the new application, as well as the relevance of networking for the protection of women and girls, sustainable prevention and awareness-raising work, functioning intervention chains and interdisciplinary cooperation. The network conference ended with a stimulating exchange on various issues.
