"We are very proud to be able to be active here in this beautiful 4Höfe district. Our focus is on offering our youngest citizens individual care and support throughout their lives," says Gesa Kitschke. "With our Kita 4Höfe, we are creating a lively place where up to 60 children are recognized in their uniqueness and individually supported in their development. It is particularly important to us to take their needs seriously and to support them in an appreciative manner on their path into life. Our holistic approach promotes their personal abilities and creates spaces for development and learning together," she says, briefly describing the concept of the daycare center.
In addition to the new daycare center, Diakonie Altholstein is also opening services for senior citizens directly in the neighboring building: Service & Care and the Norderstedter Hausbesuch, an information service for senior citizens in Norderstedt, which has been active since 2024 and can now be found in Ulzburger Straße. "With these three offers, we will create important impulses for a cross-generational community in Norderstedt here in Ulzburger Straße," emphasizes Gesa Kitschke.
Norderstedt's Lord Mayor Katrin Schmieder said of the Diakonie Altholstein concept: "When the different generations are brought together as they are here, neighborliness is lived and social cohesion in the neighborhood is increased. From our point of view, it is important to build bridges and create connections between the different groups in urban society - in order to be and remain an open and welcoming community."
The daycare center, which is designed for children from the age of three, impresses with its partially open concept and spacious rooms. "Our vision was to create a spatial concept that combines both functionality and aesthetics. The spacious rooms, the canteen and the exercise hall are components of this concept, which not only offer the children enough space to play and learn, but also encourage their creativity and joy of movement," says Gerhard Bernhold, the architect responsible for the concept.
The funding from the state investment program and the city of Norderstedt underlines the importance of this project. The construction of the Kita 4Höfe was supported by funding. While the state investment program contributed €832,626.65 to cover the total costs, the city of Norderstedt provided a maximum investment grant of €95,400. The successful construction demonstrates the commitment of all those involved.
There are currently 16 children aged 3-6 registered at the daycare center. The professional team under the management of Marion Frenzel is looking forward to further enrolments and, above all, to promoting the children's talents and supporting their parents.
Registrations can be made via the Kitaportal Schleswig-Holstein.
