Diakonie Altholstein strengthens Flintbek: Care location Quartier Müllershörn opened

On July 1, 2025, Diakonisches Werk Altholstein opened a new care facility in the Müllershörn district in Flintbek. Diakonie Altholstein has been the care provider for the residential community since April 2024. It has now launched additional services in the Müllershörn district: an outpatient care service - previously located at Dorfstraße 2a - and a newly built day care facility.

The opening of the Müllershörn quarter is an important step in the creation of a high-quality care infrastructure in Flintbek. We would like to thank Horup Immobilien GmbH for their support in implementing this project.

"We want to enable older people to lead as independent a life as possible in their familiar surroundings in Flintbek," says Gesa Kitschke, Managing Director of Diakonie Altholstein, summing up the aim.

Community in focus - comments on the opening

"Flintbek is a community with a strong sense of community. We are delighted that Diakonie Altholstein has created a service that promotes senior-friendly and neighborhood-oriented care. This enables our residents to stay in their familiar surroundings for as long as possible," emphasizes Stefan Bettin, Mayor of Flintbek.

Gesa Kitschke adds: "For us, social space orientation means recognizing the needs of local people and developing solutions together. We are committed to ensuring that everyone receives the support they need while remaining part of a vibrant community. By networking our services and involving citizens, we create a strong sense of community that sustainably improves quality of life."

Care with a holistic approach

The new care quarter focuses on networked, holistic care. A day care facility with space for up to 12 guests and an outpatient care unit are operated at the site. The services are individually tailored to the needs of senior citizens in order to promote a self-determined life and relieve the burden on relatives.

"Our aim is not only to provide optimum care for senior citizens, but also to create attractive jobs for care staff. With outpatient care and day care, we make an important contribution to regional care and create an environment in which employees feel valued and can develop," explains Benjamin Seidel, Head of Nursing at Diakonie Altholstein.

Working together for a better quality of life

Neighborhood-oriented care in Flintbek is based on close cooperation with the municipality, the housing industry and local doctors and therapists. The approach bundles various services from a single source and thus promotes neighborhood, housing satisfaction and volunteer work.

Special thanks go to Horup Immobilien GmbH, an important partner in the realization of the new location.
