Bad Bramstedt department store "Anziehungspunkt": integration project with lighthouse character launched

(Bad Bramstedt, March 27, 2026) - Diakonie Altholstein has created a future-oriented and practical integration offer in the department store "Anziehungspunkt" in Bad Bramstedt with the "Work integration perspective for people with a refugee and migration background" (AIP) measure. "The project was launched on October 1, 2025 and met with great interest right from the start: Shortly after the start, all 20 places were already taken," says Angela Dänzer, coordinator of the Anziehungspunkt department store.

The six-month measure is aimed at people of working age with a refugee or migrant background. It is aimed in particular at people who have just arrived in Germany, have only limited knowledge of German and have not yet attended an integration course. The aim is to strengthen these people at an early stage and provide them with holistic support. The participants bring various professional experiences and skills from their countries of origin. The project builds on this in a targeted manner and helps them to find their feet in the German job market. Language acquisition, social participation and getting to know the central processes and framework conditions of the local working world are intertwined.

Stephanie Vallentin, Head of the Work and Employment Division at Diakonie Altholstein, emphasizes the importance of the project: "Integration begins where people are given the opportunity for real participation directly and promptly. This is exactly what is made possible here. This model meets an acute need and is therefore transferable far beyond Bad Bramstedt."

As part of the program, the participants get to know various fields of activity and improve their German language skills directly in everyday working life. They receive professional guidance and educational support. They also receive support from Diakonie Altholstein's mobile refugee and integration advice service on issues relating to immigration and residence law.

The integration project is funded by the district of Segeberg. " We are closing a gap between arriving in our society and a possible professional perspective," explains Christiane Rimbach, Head of Social Affairs, Employment and Health, district of Segeberg, adding "it is impressive to see the commitment with which the participants seize this opportunity and how naturally the cooperation works on site."

Another success factor of the measure is the close cooperation with the Bad Bramstedt-Land office and the town of Bad Bramstedt. This municipal networking enables tailor-made support and promotes successful transitions into employment. "The measure combines qualification, practice and support in an exemplary way and shows how we can actively shape integration here in the Bad Bramstedt Land office and open up successful paths to employment," says Torsten Klinger, head of the Bad Bramstedt Land office and mayor of the municipality of Großenaspe, describing the success of the integration measure.
