Christmas under the wish tree: Diakonie Altholstein and XXXLutz Brügge make children's wishes come true

(Neumünster, November 25, 2025) Diakonie Altholstein and XXXLutz Brügge want to make children's dreams come true again this Christmas. Families in financially difficult situations have been specifically targeted for this. From November 25, around 130 stars with children's wishes will adorn the wish tree in the entrance foyer of the furniture store at Freesenburg 8, inviting people to give the gift of joy. Anyone who would like to fulfill one of these Christmas wishes for a child has until December 11 to do so.

In their daily work, the employees of Diakonie Altholstein encounter the worries and challenges of many families. Whether in the family office or during home visits as part of the "Early Help" program - the children's wishes are visible everywhere, which often remain unfulfilled due to the families' financial situation. The joint project is now in its tenth year. "It is a great pleasure for us to continue the wonderful tradition of previous years together with the furniture store XXXLutz Brügge Neumünster and to give the children a special Christmas treat," says Nadine Ginzel, Head of the Family Division at Diakonie Altholstein. She adds: "The children who are looked after at our Anschar daycare center in Neumünster also contributed to the success of the project. They designed the stars on which the Christmas wishes are now written."

Jessica Wölm, coordinator of the Diakonie Altholstein family center, expressed her thanks on behalf of everyone involved: "The children's beaming eyes when a wish comes true are the best proof of how valuable this campaign is. Every year it becomes clear that even small gestures can make a big difference."

"Especially at Christmas time, people simply love to help. We look forward to implementing this project with Diakonie Altholstein every year," says Patrick Reuter, store manager at XXXLutz Brügge.

Fulfilling wishes and giving joy

Many people want to do something good for others, especially during the festival of charity. The Wishing Tree offers a wonderful opportunity to bring joy to children in the region. Anyone interested can take a wish star from the tree and become a wish granter. Each star contains details of the child's age and a short description of the Christmas wish. The Christmas-wrapped gift worth up to 20 euros can be handed in together with the star at the furniture store by December 11.

The gifts will be handed over to the children shortly before Christmas at the Protestant Family Education Center of the Diakonie Altholstein, the Katharina-von-Bora-Haus, during a cozy get-together with juice and cookies.
