Station mission

Our station missions offer needs-based assistance to travelers and station visitors. As a specialist center for referrals, we are networked with all local diaconal and social institutions. The work of the station mission is characterized by quick and unconventional action. This also includes the station mission mobile SH.

Our main tasks are:

  • Assistance with boarding, alighting and changing trains if mobility is restricted
  • Organization of travel and transfer assistance within Germany
  • Information and advice in the event of unforeseen difficulties and in acute emergency situations
  • Help for people in special need in the form of conversations
  • Referrals to day care facilities, accommodation and advice centers
  • Pastoral care
  • Accompanying travelers during the entire train journey

Station mission mobile

At Bahnhofsmission Mobil SH, trained volunteers not only support passengers on the platform as usual, but also accompany them throughout their train journey in Schleswig-Holstein. The service is aimed at anyone who is not (or no longer) confident enough to travel alone by train: children traveling alone, parents with several children, senior citizens who have not travelled by train for a long time, people who are not able to walk well and others. The staff at Bahnhofsmission Mobil SH are also there to help in stressful situations, such as traveling to a funeral.

The service is free of charge for travelers on regional services. The trip should be registered two weeks in advance, a written agreement ensures a smooth process, regulates responsibilities and, if accompanying children, the duty of supervision.
