125 Years of the Mittelholstein Building Cooperative: An Anniversary That Makes a Difference.

Kiel – This year, the Mittelholstein Building Cooperative is celebrating its 125th anniversary. Instead of accepting gifts, the cooperative asked guests from government, politics, and business attending its anniversary celebration on March 20, 2025, to make donations to the Kieler Anker’s lunch program in Kiel. Thanks to this generous support, a total of 13,000 euros was raised. This initiative underscores the social commitment of the Mittelholstein Housing Cooperative, which has been providing affordable housing and fostering a strong sense of community since its founding in 1900.

The donation was presented on Tuesday, May 27, in the presence of Gesa Kitschke, executive director of Diakonie Altholstein. Stefan Binder, chairman of the housing cooperative, emphasizes: “It is very important to us not only to create housing but also to actively contribute to improving living conditions in our community. Supporting the Kieler Anker’s lunch program is an important step in this direction.”

The Mittelholstein Housing Cooperative is a long-standing cooperative dedicated to creating housing and promoting social cohesion. With a wide range of housing options and an active membership, it contributes to the quality of life in the region.

Gesa Kitschke expressed her gratitude for the donation: “We are delighted to have the support of the Mittelholstein Building Cooperative. This donation enables us to continue offering many people in Kiel a warm meal and a sense of belonging.”
