Provinzial employees donate to the renovation of the Kiel station mission

(Kiel, March 5, 2025) Bahnhofsmission Kiel is an important point of contact for people traveling and for people in difficult life situations. Financial support and donations are essential in order to do this work in the best possible way. Thanks to the dedicated employees of Provinzial Kiel, a significant step towards improving the spatial conditions can now be implemented.

The Provinzial Kiel works council has been collecting donations for the station mission for many years. This year's pre-Christmas campaign raised 1,965 euros, which will be used for the urgently needed renovation of the premises.

"At the top of our agenda is the modernization of the station mission in order to create a welcoming atmosphere for our visitors," emphasizes Josefine Scotti, overall coordinator of the station mission at Diakonie Altholstein. The donation from Provinzial is a significant contribution to sustainably improving the quality of stay and working conditions at the station mission in Kiel.

Kerstin David, Chairwoman of the Works Council at Provinzial Kiel, emphasizes: "Our colleagues have been committed to the station mission in our neighbourhood since 1993. Originally with the so-called "parking lot campaign", in which we rented out our company parking spaces for a donation, and now with an annual collection within the company. In total, we have already been able to provide over 50,000 euros."

Bahnhofsmission Kiel supports around 10,000 people every year. However, the premises are getting on in years and no longer meet the needs of the guests and staff. Among other things, the donation will be used to extend the guest area to create more seating. New furniture, improved storage solutions and a more modern, friendly interior design are also planned. Another important point is digital participation: In future, a laptop workstation will be available for guests of the station mission to submit online applications or obtain information.

The renovation work is a first step towards making the station mission fit for the future and significantly improving conditions for guests and employees. "We are very grateful for the support and look forward to being able to implement the changes soon," says Josefine Scotti.
